about how it is being used for profit without authorization by an alternate clothing company. You can help fighting back! By helping me out with denouncing them and e-mailing them, you aren't only helping me, but also all other artists in the world, including yourself, by sending the right message of 0 tolerance for stealing. If we always let such things slip, people like this rely on the fact that they can get away with it and this must not happen!
How to construct a good report:
If you see this coat listed on general markets (e-bay, amazon, etsy, vampirefreaks, etc, just to name a few), contact the market, NOT THE SELLER. The market itself can take the listing down when given strong evidence of intellectual property theft. Please include a link to my original deviantArt post as it contains the time of publication, a very important proof of ownership. This also allows them to find my profile and contact me directly if needed. I have updated the Artist comment section to include all required information about how it has been used without permission, so you don't need to worry about elaborating on that.
You can also email the distributing company directly for as long as they will keep on listing this coat to create pressure on them.
Please do this, it only takes a few minutes and can go a long way, and it means so much to me. Remember that by doing this, you are also standing up with and helping protecting the work of everyone else, including yours!
We as artists are a vulnerable community of people, but we can be stronger than anything if we act as a team and stand up for each other!
Be aware, share the word everywhere you can, and always keep an eye open. There are countless tales of pictures, designs, and artwork stolen for unauthorized reproduction, distribution, and other activities aimed for profit, most often than not coming from companies in countries where copyright laws are close to nonexistent and artists are left to fend for themselves without any other protection than whatever pressure their peers and the general population can create against the wrongdoers. Sometimes finding the original source of the theft can be hard or nearly impossible as they work really hard to cover their own asses. All we can do is limit their ability to sell and make profit out of stolen things as much as possible, and that's by reporting and getting their listings down, or their seller account banned everywhere possible, sharing the word with local shops known for redistributing their goods about not ordering these items anymore and why, making the theft known to the largest group of people possible as to reduce their customer base, give bad reviews on the item listing mentioning how it contains stolen material with links to evidence, etc.
Share this journal, on facebook, tumblr, or twitter. Its easy! Deviantart even now has embedded sharing buttons for these social medias! Social medias are powerful tools. Make this go viral. Hell, make any theft go viral!
Each and every good soul to share, reblog, denounce, or do any other little gesture of help shall have my eternal gratitude. Just remember to do this for any other artist whose work you see being stolen as well!
