Ye ole mechanic glasses by Spiked-Fox Ye ole mechanic glasses by Spiked-Fox
Old and used steampunk mechanic/engineer glasses.

Frame made from absolute scratch using metal from cans, itsy metallic bits from an old TV's circuitry, metal wire of various gauges, flux & soldering wire, and burnt fingers.
Worn out and coloured with heat, polished with a rotary tool.
Ear tips created from dipping the frame tips in liquid latex.

Lenses cast with Crystal resin coloured with a few drops of greengold vitral paint.

Not sure if I'd ever try that, would depend on one thing:
Do they function? XD
*like using that resin stuff, can you see well enough, or are other steam-punk materials better for it than others?

If you make sure the surface of the resin is perfectly smooth, it's clear enough to see through them like through glass. Mines are too tinted to see properly through though.

I have a question about steampunk style, 99% of the glasses i've seen are round is is against the style for them to be rectangular?
Also with the metal working is it possible to make a frame that u could put prescription lenses in? my glasses broke recently and i think it would be neat to try.

Rectangular glasses are modern glasses, steampunk is not supposed to look modern. It's all about taking the victorian era to a sci-fi level, and back in the victorian era, glasses were indeed round, hence why steampunk glasses and googles are mainly done in an old-fashionned round style. There is no set rule against rectangular lenses, but it may be more difficult to get that vintage steampunk look with those. as for prescription glasses, I guess nothing is impossible, if you have the skills to create frames of a tight-fit around pre-made lenses...

Really interesting work Spiked-Fox. If your planing on wearing them? I would add a little more safety on the arms. Solder the wire parts.

Other then that!!! I'm really getting into this Steampunk thing that everyone on dA does. Really Cool Stuff.

That're already pretty safe, there is no pointy needly scratchy bits whatsoever, I do not see what has to be done? "wire parts"??
the arms bits have flat ends (as shown), and are far too short and far from the eyes to be of any threat.
